On Writing + Music

Teaching writing and enjoying music, every day

Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, Greene graduated from Auburn University with a B.A. in political science. After graduation Greene began his career working in nonprofit development at United Way. He later pursued an M.P.A. at Auburn University. For ten years Greene served in state, regional, and local public sector agencies. During this time Greene gained skills in regional planning, grant writing, public information, program evaluation and case management.

Most recently, Greene taught U.S. History at a public charter high school in Colorado Springs. He also taught an elective personal finance class. While he enjoyed this experience, he wanted to pursue teaching composition at the college level.

Writing: Greene is enrolled in Kennesaw State’s Master of Arts in Professional Writing. He is currently a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Kennesaw and serves as a writing assistant in the KSU Writing Center. Greene is co-teaching an English 1102 class this semester. Career aspirations include serving in a writing center or teaching English composition at the community college or university level.
Music: Greene loves acoustic folk and bluegrass music and has served on the volunteer board of Sundilla Acoustic Concert Series, based in Auburn, Alabama. Founded in 1997, Sundilla is the longest running acoustic concert series in Alabama and has hosted established folk artists such as Gillian Welch, Peirce Pettis, and Jeff Black. When not at a Sundilla concert, he enjoys catching a show at Standard Deluxe in Waverly, Ala. He is looking forward to seeing Son Volt play there in April!
